News from the Coordinator:
I wanted to take this opportunity to up-date anyone interested in the Novice Ag Teacher Program and share our progress. Thank you to all who have been active as a mentor or a novice teacher so far this year. At this time we have accomplished the following:
- At summer conference we held a kick off event to train mentors and help novice teachers prepare for the first days of school. The highlight of this event was matching the novice teachers with their mentor teachers.
-During September, mentor teachers were asked to stay in regular contact with their novice teachers and visit their schools
- We have published a monthly newsletter for mentor and novice teacher
- In October, we held a Novice Teacher Meeting in Manhattan that focused on "common hurdles" such as organization, communication, and planning.
